Astra Jewelers is run by Eddie and Stephanie Dieguez, a husband-and-wife team. The two people you deal with at the studio are the two whose names are on the business. The studio sits on the 2nd floor at 250 Bellevue Avenue in Upper Montclair, up a flight of stairs rather than behind a mall storefront. That changes what a visit feels like. Appointments are the default. Nobody hovers at your elbow and a tray comes out because you asked to see it.

The cases hold fine jewelry and gemstones selected piece by piece rather than bought by the tray, with natural and lab grown diamonds shown side by side. The one watch brand we sell is Briston and Astra is its sole certified dealer in New Jersey. Jewelry repair covers everything from ring resizing and prong retipping to chain soldering. Watch repair runs down to a battery change. There is no in-house bench. Every piece is assessed with you at the studio, then the work is coordinated through jewelers we trust and quoted free, in writing, before anything starts. The other half of the room is a gallery. The studio hangs rotating shows by local artists, so the walls change through the year while the cases stay put. That is not a decorating decision. It is how Eddie and Stephanie answer the question of what a neighborhood jewelry store should be. It is also why a first visit tends to run longer than people plan for.
