Heirloom Jewelry

From their hands,
to yours

A ring worn through decades of ordinary days. A chain that never came off. Inherited jewelry carries the person, not just the metal. Wearing it again is not letting go of their story. It is how the story continues.

Bring the Piece In
Four ways forward

Honor the piece,
then wear it

Restore

Kept exactly as it is, brought back to strength. A worn shank rebuilt, a clasp replaced, prongs retipped, with the age left in where the age is the beauty.

Reset the stone

The stone carries the memory into a setting made for the way you actually dress. It is assessed out of the old mount first, because a stone that cannot be replaced deserves that care.

Redesign

The piece reimagined entirely, drawn around you. And where the metal itself is the memory, your own gold can go into the new piece, work most jewelers prefer to turn away.

Combine

Several pieces that never leave the box become one that never comes off. Thin rings into a single band. A drawer of fragments into one piece that carries all of it.

How it works

Three steps,
and nothing changed until you approve it

01

Bring everything

The ring nobody wears, the chain with the broken clasp, the single earring. It all comes to one conversation and nothing is committed by showing us.

02

Assessed in person

Every piece is looked at in person, free. You hear what it can become, what it cannot and when the best advice is to restore it or leave it exactly as it is.

03

See it before it exists

Anything remade starts as a 3D rendering, then a printed model worn on your own hand. You approve the design and the exact price before the piece is made.

The experience

A private studio,
for a personal piece

Heirloom work starts as a conversation, not a transaction. You sit down in a private second floor studio, the pieces go on the desk and we talk about who wore them and what you would actually wear. The assessment is free, made in person and commits you to nothing.

Nothing is left to imagination. The design work runs through the same custom process we use for new pieces. The stone is chosen first when there is one, the design comes back as a 3D rendering and a printed model worn on your own hand. The exact price is approved before anything is made.

Not every piece suits every treatment. Plated and hollow pieces cannot give their metal back. Some stones are safer left in the setting they have held for fifty years. You hear all of it plainly at the assessment, before anything is decided. There is a longer look at the stone side in our guide to resetting an old diamond.

What clients say

Real reviews,
from real customers

Eddie and Stephanie are the best jewelers I’ve ever worked with! They are incredibly kind, patient, and truly take the time to sit down with you, listen to your vision, and understand exactly what you’re hoping to create. You can tell they genuinely care about making pieces that you’ll love and feel confident wearing. They are always open to conversation and revisions throughout the process, and they never once made me feel silly for asking questions, changing or refining my vision, or overthinking any detail. They’re also incredibly transparent throughout the process and keep you updated along the way, which made me feel informed and comfortable from start to finish. They made me feel completely comfortable throughout the entire process. Their work is beautiful and done with so much integrity, and I always felt valued as a customer. Their process truly feels customized to each person. There are no shortcuts or band-aid fixes—they take the time to make sure everything is done the right way. It was such a pleasure working with them on our rings and a pair of earrings for my mom. Every piece came out beautifully, and I’m so grateful for the care they put into everything. I look forward to continuing to work with them for years to come!

Astra Jewelers is truly a gem! Stephanie and Eddie are incredible: so professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. They make you feel like family from the moment you walk in. They’ve created several custom pieces for me, and their sourcing is fabulous. They have such an amazing eye for design. Everything feels elegant, elevated, and timeless. The 3D renderings are incredibly helpful because you can really visualize the pieces and fine-tune every detail before they’re made. Throughout the entire process, Stephanie and Eddie keep you updated every step of the way, which makes the experience feel easy, exciting, and completely personal. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are exceptional. I’m completely obsessed with every piece! Everything they’ve made for me has exceeded my expectations. Astra has absolutely become my go-to jeweler, and I recommend Stephanie and Eddie wholeheartedly to anyone looking for something truly special.

Stephanie and Eddie are amazing - I will be working with Astra Jewelers for all of my jewelry from now on! When my boyfriend and I walked in for our appointment to discuss a custom engagement ring on June 13, a kind group of customers were leaving the studio and told us how much they enjoyed their experience with Astra and we’ll be happy here. And they were 100% right. During that first appointment, Stephanie and Eddie thoughtfully listened to what I wanted for my custom ring and offered ideas when I was not able to verbalize what I envisioned. They were so welcoming, easy to talk to, and made us feel like this very important chapter in my boyfriend’s and my lives are in the best hands. Following our appointment, Stephanie kept me updated via text about the artist doing the renderings, clarified my visions even more, and helped communicate my unique, non-traditional dream “nature-inspired” engagement ring to the artist. She was responsive and helpful with my disorganized thoughts over text, and within weeks we had the most beautiful, creative, uniquely-mine ring ready for pickup. Our experience with Astra Jewelers was incredibly pleasant, calming, and stressless. Stephanie and Eddie are the best people to collaborate with, the best people to get the job done, and just overall a wonderful couple. We cannot recommend Astra Jewelers enough!

We purchased our wedding bands and engagement ring from Astra Jewelers. From beginning to end the process was not only smooth and efficient but fun. They never made us feel like we were asking too many questions and they guided us through the entire process. The rings turned out even better than we had imagined due to their input. They are skilled and knowledgeable about diamonds and fine jewelry. Their inputs were really helpful when designing the ring. They are able to provide not only 3d renderings of the designs but also 3d prints so that you can wear the rings and see them before they are created. They treat their customers like family. Amazing people, beautiful jewelry - highly recommend!!!

Before you come in

Heirloom jewelry,
answered

What can be done with inherited jewelry?

More than most people expect. A piece can be restored and kept exactly as it is, resized so it actually fits, reset so a stone moves into a setting you would wear, redesigned into something new or combined with other pieces into one. Which of those is right depends on the piece and on what it means to you, which is exactly what the first conversation is for.

Do I have to change a piece to keep wearing it?

No. Restoration is real work in its own right, a worn shank rebuilt, a clasp replaced, prongs retipped, a surface brought back without erasing its age. And sometimes the honest advice is to change nothing at all. If a piece is more valuable or more meaningful as it stands, you hear that plainly at the assessment.

Can you use my own gold in the new piece?

Yes. It is worth asking for by name, because most jewelers prefer not to take that work. They offer new gold and a trade in instead, since old gold carries solder and mixed alloys that make it genuinely harder to rework. We assess it honestly. Some pieces need a measure of fresh gold added for the new piece to be sound. Some gold needs refining first. Either way you are told exactly where yours stands before anything is melted.

Can you keep the stones as well as the metal?

Yes. Stones are unset and assessed separately, because a chip or a hairline crack can hide under a prong for decades and resetting has its own risks. Diamonds and most gemstones survive the process untouched since only the metal is ever worked. Resetting an inherited stone is some of the most common work in the studio.

Are there pieces this does not work for?

Yes. You hear it at the assessment rather than after, plainly and for free. Gold plated and gold filled pieces carry only a thin skin of gold over base metal, so there is nothing meaningful to recover from them. Hollow chains hold far less metal than they appear to. Costume pieces are not gold at all however convincing they look. A piece like that can still be worn or kept, it just cannot become the raw material for something new.

What does it cost?

It depends entirely on the piece and the design, which is why we do not quote by phone or email. The assessment is free and made in person, because the piece has to be seen and weighed before an honest number exists. After that the design and its exact price are put in front of you for approval before anything at all gets made.
