A quartz watch from a department store can cost more to service than to replace. An inherited piece almost never is. We will tell you which one you have brought us before you spend anything, because a customer who trusts the answer comes back with the watch that matters.

A price over the phone or by email would be a guess, because most watches need the case opened before the real condition shows. Battery replacement and link removal sit at the low end, while crystal replacement, crown and stem work or a full movement service are quoted per piece once we have seen the watch. You approve the price before we begin.
Do you repair Rolex, Omega and other luxury watches?
We take in most Swiss and Japanese brands including Rolex, Omega, TAG Heuer, Breitling, Cartier, Longines, Tissot, Seiko, Citizen and Movado. Astra Jewelers is an independent jeweler and is not an authorized dealer or authorized service center for those brands. Complex movement work is coordinated through specialist watchmakers we have used for years. We tell you upfront when a piece is better sent to the manufacturer instead.
How long does a watch repair take?
Battery changes, link removal and strap fitting are the quickest jobs. Crystal replacement and clasp work typically run three to seven days. A full movement service sent to a specialist takes longer. You get a realistic date at intake rather than an optimistic one.
Do I need an appointment for watch repair?
No, walk ins are welcome during opening hours. Booking ahead means someone is free to look at your piece the moment you arrive.
Can you make my watch water resistant again?
After a battery change or caseback opening we fit a fresh gasket and reseal the case. Note that resealing restores the seal rather than certifying a depth rating, so we will tell you honestly whether a piece should still be trusted in water.
Do you repair vintage or inherited watches?
Yes. These are the ones worth bringing in rather than posting off. We look at the piece with you, explain what is realistic and say plainly when a repair would cost more than the watch is worth or when originality is better left alone.
My watch is running fast or slow. What causes that?
On a mechanical watch the most common culprit is magnetism. A steel hairspring that has sat near a phone speaker, a laptop or a magnetic bag clasp starts running noticeably fast. Demagnetizing it is a quick bench job rather than a full service. If the watch still misbehaves after that, it needs a proper look. On a quartz watch, losing time usually means the battery is dying. A battery change settles the question cheaply before anyone talks about the movement.
Do you replace batteries in smartwatches or an Apple Watch?
No. A smartwatch seals a rechargeable cell behind an adhesive-bonded screen and pairs it with the software, so that work belongs with the manufacturer. We would rather say so than experiment on your watch. What we replace are the silver oxide button cells in quartz watches, which is a different job done with a case tool and a fresh gasket rather than a heat plate.
